Safety Safety

A Safety Steering Committee

This includes our employees, subcontractors, vendors, clients and the public.

Every employee is vested in our company safety program. The safety program starts from the top with our president taking an active roll as chairperson of our diverse 11 person Safety Steering Committee.

Every employee has a share in our Safety Incentive Plan which distributes over $50,000 per year to our employees.

Every supervisor and manager at Morgan Corp. is trained in, as a minimum, OSHA 10 hour Construction Safety, First Aid and CPR. We have 3 on-staff safety professionals, each OSHA 500 certified, to train the OSHA 10 or 30 hour Construction Safety courses, and the NCCER’s Construction Site Safety Orientation 8 hour course.

Our safety program is based around all local, state, and federal safety rules and regulations but far exceeds these minimal standards, as we desire to better protect our prime assets – our employees! The following list of Morgan Corp. policies and procedures helps demonstrate this:

  • Mandatory Substance Abuse Testing Program
  • New Hire Safety Orientation Program
  • Equipment Operator’s Safety Qualification Program
  • Vehicle Operator’s Safe Driver’s Program
  • Comprehensive written Safety Plan that includes Hazard Communications
  • Monthly Project Site Safety Audits required of Superintendent & Project Managers, to include formal reports
  • Two “Mock OSHA Inspections” per year per Superintendent as part of their incentive plan
  • Weekly Tool Box Safety Meetings in English and Spanish
  • Bilingual Employee ID Program
  • Three full time safety professionals conducting site inspections and training, as needed
  • Annual OSHA Trenching and Excavating safety training
  • A Pro-active return to work policy and case management program
  • Hazard Assessment Plans generated by our Project Managers and Superintendents for all major projects
  • Implement Best Safety Practices as identified
  • Celebrate and reward excellence in site safety performance at 6 month intervals with Safety Luncheons
  • Strive to meet our stated Morgan Corp. explicit safety goal of Zero Accidents
  • Offer Spanish construction related language classes to our English speaking supervision
  • Offer OSHA 10 hour construction safety training in Spanish to our Spanish speaking employees

The Morgan Corp. Corporate Safety Manager reports to the Company President both organizationally and operationally. The Senior Safety Manager and Charlotte Division Safety Manager report to the Corporate Safety Manager. Therefore, by design, safety does not report to a fully production oriented position thus better warranting impartial direction.

The Morgan Corp. Safety Department looks forward to doing a safe, quality, and productive business with you in the future. Please contact our Corporate Safety Manager, Dick Knight if you need further information. (864) 433-8800 ext. 147
